Coconut Virgin Oil (VCO)

Product Description:

VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) is a clear oil extracted by a special mechanical process from the wet/dry processing of the fresh coconut meat, with or without retained coconut flavour. No chemicals are added during processing.

PHYSICAL

  • Colour and appearance : clear/colourless (a fully transparent oil >25°c)
  • Taste : free from rancid or sour taste
  • Oudour: free from rancid odour and contains a mild sweet coconut aroma.
  • Insoluble impurities/extraneous : 0.05 maximum matter, % (w/w)

CHEMICAL

  • Moisture content, %  : 0.1 maximum
  • Specific gravity @ 30°c : 0.915 - 0.920
  • Saponification value, mg koh/g : 248 - 265
  • Acid value, mg koh/g : 0.5 maximum
  • Peroxide value, meq/kg : 2 maximum
  • Free fatty acid (as oleic acid), %   : 0.1 maximum free fatty acid (as lauric acid), % : 0.07 maximum
  • Iodine value : 5.0 - 11.0

MICROBIOLOGICAL

  • Total plate count, cfu/ml : 10 maximum

APPLICATIONS

  • For use in cosetics and food, especially health food, ayurvedic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications.

PACKAGING AND PACKING SIZE

  • Packing size : 183 kg steel drum, 15 kg pail, 500ml pet jar & 220ml pet jar.

STORAGE CONDITION

  • The product shall be stored under cool (25°-30°c but not below 25°c), dry & clean conditions. The vco (virgin coconut oil) will solidify < 25°c or 77°f.

SHELF-LIFE

  • 24 months from date of manufacture, under the recommended storage conditions.

  • Codex standard for named vegetable oils (codex stan 210-1999)
